Surprisingly, 2 in 5 adults are now choosing video games for entertainment instead of the television set. In a recent study by the Consumer Electronics Association; it shows that one third of adult gamers spend 10 hours or more a week playing video games. Only 11% of teenage gamers spend that amount or more a week. This may come as a surprise, but adults play video games more than children and teenagers. So it's easy to see how there is a lot more cases of adult video game addiction.
If you are 18 years old or over, and are battling with a video game addiction or know someone who is, then you might want to consider reading up and following this guide.

2. Share this problem with someone you know, love and trust. Sharing it with someone will not only make you feel better, but they will be able to assist you in some manner or form to overcome this video game addiction.
3. Make a plan, admitting and sharing the problem is a good start. But to really make progress you need to build a plan. This plan should have a schedule when you're playing and not playing video games. Ask the person(s) you have told to help you construct and plan this schedule.
4. Take the plan you've made into action. Begin decreasing the hours you spent playing video games. Don't get discouraged if you fall behind slightly, just start again and try you're very best next time. Remind yourself why your doing this, and how it could really ruin your life if you stay on this way.
5. Try other forms of entertainment besides video games. Entertainment and hobbies need moderation too, instead of playing video games all the time, try something else. Whether its some form of physical sport, fishing, remote controlled cars or boats, collecting, reading, cooking, gardening, taking the dog for a walk, or even house improvements. There is so many other forms of entertainment than just video games. Some can even be more enjoyable than video games, which can even keep you fit, active, strong and healthy. Now that's something video games can't do for you.
6. Taking your mind off video games might be something hard to do, but is not impossible. Ways to accomplish this goal includes: Getting a job, it is an excellent way to separate yourself from the virtual worlds you play in. If you have children get involved with them. Instead of sitting down for a whole Saturday afternoon playing games, take your kids somewhere. Whether it's taking them to the beach, bike riding, fishing, swimming, a hike, or just a drive to get Ice Cream. Anything to get you away from video games, but also a fruitful time with your children. I'm saying this for the reason, look how many infants have died due to the parent's addiction. You need to make your children come first, always.
